Companion App

Companion App #

In order to enable some of the features of ~.UcClient.~ (Web Edition), it needs to communicate directly with the operating system. To do this, it uses the Companion App.

To install the companion app, click on the link icon in the menu:

This will enable the companion app integration and initiate the download of the installer for your operating system. Please follow the browser and installation prompts to complete the installation.

Once the installation is complete, the companion app should automatically start and be visible in the system tray:

After a few seconds, it should sync with the web client and the link icon should change to indicate that it is connected:

If there is a connection problem, the link icon will change to indicate that it is disconnected:

If this happens, it means either the companion app isn't running or the ports that is is using may be blocked.

The ports can be changed if required, navigate to the 'Integration' section of the settings menu and scroll to the bottom of the page. Enable 'Use custom port range' and then select a valid port (to configure a single port, enter the same number in both boxes). Once the port has been updated, restart the companion app.
